For the last three years, Lord of Life Lutheran Church has hosted an annual dinner-dance called "Have a Heart for Manna House" in conjunction with Valentine's Day. This year, 90 people attended for a wonderful dinner catered by Tasteful Temptations.
Prior to dinner -- over hors' d'ouvres -- we wandered the all manner of various silent auction items. After dinner and dessert the dancing began under a huge bouquet of yellow roses. The fellowship hall space was transformed into a Valentine fantasy. $5,000 was collected by the event and handed to the Manna House president, Don Herman. With that amount Manna House can feed 180 people for one month.
Jesus commanded his followers to feed the hungry. Manna House is one expression of our praise and obedience. |
