Living out God's call to help and love others and to care for God's Creation
The Social Ministry Committee creates hands on opportunities for members to show compassion for the physical, spiritual and material needs of neighbors throughout St Simons Island/Brunswick GA, the nation and the world. It seeks to understand and address root causes of ongoing social and environmental injustices.
Among other activities and events, here are a few examples of the Social Ministry Committee's work:
-
Manna House of Brunswick, GA - volunteers meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month
-
Sparrows Nest - ongoing food donations and special food drives
-
International Seafarers Center - Supplies are collected and packed for distribution at our local Seafarers.
-
Operation Christmas Child (Shoebox gifts) - supplies, toys, are collected and packed.
-
SOAR - Hosting annual event for adults with developmental disabilities.
-
Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia - food collection and volunteering at the Warehouse including distributing food at the Monthly Mobile Food Pantry.
We always welcome ideas, input and fellow volunteers! Chat with a Committee member about all the possibilities.
