Robert (Bob) Kasting

Pastor

My sense of call with God began early in my youth, with substantial pastoral role models and my family’s strong commitment to God, Jesus Christ, and church. This has kept me grounded in Christ’s forgiveness and redemptive powers through many good and tough times. Although my call to God’s service didn’t occur until much later in life, my faith has grown as the years pass and ultimately inculcating the joy of Christ’s
forgiveness and redemption, rejoicing in the Glory of God’s grace. I feel blessed sharing this proclamation of faith with others in worship, through Word and Sacrament, service to my community, and fellowshipping with friends and others. My personal convictions: I believe life should be lived to its fullest, utilizing all of God’s creation in a stewardly manner. Each day should begin with counting one’s blessings and acknowledgment of all that God has given us, using this enlightenment according to His needs. All we have, are, and will be is through God the Father. I believe in one Holy Baptism which delivers us from sin and death and binds us to our Lord, Jesus Christ. I believe we are justified by grace through our faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection of our sins. Our lives are filled by the Holy Spirit through no act of our own. Worship is a time for glorifying the Good News of Jesus Christ. It is a time for reflection and experiencing God's Word, through hymns, word, and prayers. Worship is to be approached reverently and respectfully. I enjoy worship and the consistency of a liturgical service. Worship provides me with a sense of completeness and renewed energy. I feel blessed when given the opportunity to proclaim Gods word through my sermons, teaching confirmation, Sunday school, and Bible study. I utilize the opportunity to enlighten others to Gods
words when I am in non-church related small group activities, organized sporting events, civic organizations, and visitations of shut ins and their families. I will often use my life experiences as an opportunity to teach Gods message forgiveness, love, and hope. I was born in Buffalo, NY. I have had the joy and pleasure to live in various states throughout my life: New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, and now Georgia. I graduated Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Columbia SC in 2001. God has led me to several different calls throughout my career. At each one I have learned, grown, and made new friends. Each call holds a special place in my heart. In 2017, God blessed me with the union to my wife, Kelly. Together we have 5 children and 2 grandchildren. As all newly married couples we have our ups and downs, but we go through life with love and laughter. We
are excited to make Georgia our new “forever” home.
